IEEE STUDENTS' BRANCH
The IEEE strives to keep the people in touch with the fast developing technical scenario. Model Engineering College Student Branch of IEEE with its technical excellence and expertise does it in style. It has 102 members and is one of the largest Student Chapters in Kerala within a short span of time. The branch is extremely active and lets the MECians hone their technical skills and explore the myriad dimensions of technology.
Activities
The activities of the IEEE student chapter range from organizing major technical events on state and national levels to conducting seminars and technical visits to industries. The students are made aware of the actual industry environment by the industry-institution interaction through the various technical visits and seminars organized by the IEEE. Eminent professors, researchers and scientists are invited to speak on the latest technologies.
The major events that have been carried out by the IEEE student branch are :
Organizing a South-India level a technical symposium EXCEL from the year 2001 onwards.
IEEE SB celebrates Engineers Day on November 15th. Inspiring speeches by the Principal and other eminent technocrats are the attractions of the celebrations in addition to the exciting contests to find out the " The MEC Engineer ".
LINK- Connecting Students
Four members from the Branch attended the Student Awareness Program at Hotel Woods Manor and had revived the warm relationships with Student Branches of other Colleges as well as the IEEE Kerala Chapter. The meeting was presided by S Gopakumar, Student Activities Chair. The branch witnessed the inauguration of "LINK - LOCAL INTERACTIVE NETWORK OF KERALA IEEE STUDENTS"
The Student chapter also has an active communication and interaction with various IT industries, thanks to the XMECians who are now at the cutting edge of technology across the world.
The College also has an IEEE library with an excellent collection of the latest technical magazines and the periodicals related to any field of science and technology. The library caters to non-IEEE members as well as the IEEE members exposing them to what is happening today and what is to come tomorrow.
