Organizers
The National Workshop on VLSI Technology and Design is organized jointly by
Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara. Kochi and College of Engineering Chengannur, Chengannur and IEEE Education Society. College of Engineering Chengannur and Model Engineering College are premier educational Institutions, started under the auspices of the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), a Government of Kerala undertaking. All eligible programs offered by both the institutions are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). These colleges are network partners and funded by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of
Government of India. IEEE Education Society is one among the 38 societies under IEEE and it focuses on the betterment of educational methods and technology.

Program Schedule (.PDF)

Objectives

VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) has emerged as a very important technology in modern electronics, featuring deep sub micron manufacturing processes, low voltage operations, exploding speeds and smart programmable devices sufficient enough to digest ambient conditions to extremes. The electronics industry worldwide is rapidly approaching another revolutionary leap in the global market scenario. Semiconductor technology has crossed the quarter-micron threshold, making tens of millions of transistors available on a single chip equipped with the powerful arm of VLSI design. This imparts the electronics industry a potential to create designs of incredible densities and lightning speeds while utilizing batteries to power them. This has had a phenomenal impact on widespread applications ranging from consumer electronics, communications, and defense to just about everything. VLSI design group offers end-to-end design and development services in VLSI Design, Design Consulting, and System level and Board level Designs including Firmware Development.

The content of this workshop has been designed keeping in view of the emerging trends in the field of VLSI design, technology and need for skilled manpower in research activities. The primary aim of this workshop is to provide an overall view of VLSI Design and design flow. A series of lecture sessions on state of art technologies in VLSI   is scheduled like device modeling, ULSI prospects and challenges and algorithm for VLSI design automation. It is also expected to impart knowledge in the emerging technologies like silicon photonics, MEMS processing and to give a flavor of open source tools available at various levels of VLSI design.
