Government Model Engineering College (MEC) is a school of engineering and technology located in Thrikkakara, Kochi. The institute is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and was the first self-financing college to be established by the Government of Kerala under the aegis of the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD). The college was previously affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and is also the first research centre in Electronicsto be established under it. MEC was featured 37th among the top 100 engineering colleges in India by Outlook magazine and 35th among the top 100 T-Schools of India by DataQuest respectively for the year 2017 .
