Achievements

  • Balasubrahmanyam S, Aravind Krishnan and Sreekanth S S of 2006 batch was a part of the nVIDIA team that launched the nVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics card.
  • Cosmic Circuits visited the campus and recruited Harisankar of Electronics and Communication branch (2009 batch). Harishankar is the only student to be recruited by the company after visiting 4 campuses; NIT-C, CET, IIT-M and MEC.
  • Sarath Lakshman of 2011 batch was selected for the Google Summer of Code( GSOC 2008 and 2009), Google's biggest Open Software promotional programme. In 2009, he was mentored by Ekin Meroğlu of Pardus, a turkish GNU/Linux distribution development project under the auspices of TUBITAK UEKAE. In 2008, he was selected by the Fedora project and mentored by John Palmeri to work on PiTiVi (http://www.pitivi.org ), an open source video editor for GNU/Linux platform.

      Sarath Lakshman also holds to his credit as the developer of SLYNUX, (www.slynux.org) a user friendly GNU/Linux distribution.
  • Mint, the business daily from Hindustan Times in collaboration with The Wall Street Journal, has come out with its College rankings and Model Engineering College is ranked 28th among the top 50 Government Engineering Colleges in India (compared to 37th in 2008). More details are available here
  • Mr N.S. Parthasarathy, Executive Vice President and co-founder of Mindtree Consulting Pvt. Ltd. visited MEC on 12th January,2008 Click here to see the photos.
  • All three branches Electronics & Communication Engineering,Electronics & Biomedical Engineering department and Computer Science and Engineering got accreditation from National Board of Accreditation again in 2008.
  • Niyaz K Zubair of 2005 batch is a recipient of special KVPY Award from IISC Bangalore
  • Roshan James and Pooja Malpani, of 2002 Batch, currently working with a leading software firm in India have bagged the Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional Award in 2003.
  • Preethish M. Kumar, of 2000 Batch, Filed 3 patents on Image Processing.
  • Mithun Koshy Alexander, of 1999 Batch, is currently the International Student Ambassador in Australian University.
  • Deepak Dutt, of 1998 Batch, has won the “Quality Award of Excellence” from Nortel Networks CEO, Frank Dunn. The purpose of the Award is recognizing employees who demonstrate behaviors that drive our Core Value of “Quality is in every aspect.” and whose innovations deliver clear customer value.
  • Rupesh Kumar R of 1997 batch won the Individual Excellence Award in Infosys. 
  • Alphus Pathrose of 1997 batch reached the final round of BBC Mastermind India Quiz
  • Vinitha Suresh of 1993 batch won the Innovator Asia Award from EDN Asia Magazine.
  • The students have won the top ranks in the university from 1993 onwards.
